Before manufacturing: check the intended use

Select the part type and describe its actual use. Green allows ordinary assessment; yellow allows review only, with a written contract required before manufacturing. Red is excluded even with a contract. This also applies to WhatsApp.

🟢 Green — accepted for assessment — Non-critical interior clips, brackets and holders; caps, trim and handles; unloaded bushings and spacers; non-critical marine holders and organisers; non-critical parts for discontinued models over 15 years old; HORECA fixtures without food contact.

🟡 Yellow — written contract required — Window and sunroof drive gears, cooling parts, electronics housings, proximity to heat, vehicles under warranty; logos only after removal.

🔴 Red — never manufactured — Brakes, vehicle and vessel steering, airbags, belts and pretensioners, fuel systems, Annex II RD 98/2016 components, and parts affecting type approval / ITV.

Red criteria always override other categories. Age over 15 years, discontinued production or a contract do not remove restrictions. Removing a logo does not guarantee freedom from other intellectual property rights. HORECA food contact requires a separate conformity assessment and is not automatically green.

Red — never manufactured

1. Is this a brake, vehicle/vessel steering, suspension, wheel, power transmission, coupling, airbag, seat belt or pretensioner component? Auxiliary window/sunroof gears without a safety function are assessed separately below.
2. Is it part of fuel systems (tank, hose, fitting), gas, fire protection or hull watertightness? Is it a critical high-pressure component? Declare ordinary cooling parts without red risks below.
3. Does it carry structural loads, lift or restrain people/loads, or form part of vessel propulsion, steering, rigging or mooring?
4. Could failure cause injury, fire, electric shock, loss of control or flooding? Include electrical insulation, machine guards, medical devices and protective equipment.
5. Does it affect type approval / ITV or require mandatory certification or other regulatory conformity? Include parts intended for food contact.
6. Is it a marine component under Annex II RD 98/2016: ignition protection near petrol engines/tanks; outboard start-in-gear prevention; steering wheels, steering mechanisms or cable assemblies; fixed fuel tanks or fuel hoses; prefabricated hatches or portlights?

Yellow — written contract required

7. Is this an auxiliary drive gear, such as a window or sunroof gear, without a safety function?
8. Is it a cooling-system part?
9. Is it an electronics housing? If it protects against shock or fire, also answer Yes to the safety question above.
10. Is it installed near hot areas?
11. Is the vehicle still under warranty?
